Announcement

I started Boston Mamas in July 2006. At the time I was living the life of a disgruntled postdoctoral fellow and a new mom. So much has happened creatively since I left academia in August of 2006. In addition to this blog, I have written a book, launched two design companies (graphic design, apparel) and two podcasts, and become a freelance writer, consultant, and creative director. I am so grateful for each and every experience.

Over the years Boston Mamas has covered local events, travel, products, parenting advice, nonprofit spotlights, camps, reflective essays, and general lifestyle content (food, fashion, entertainment). Until the pandemic hit, the site was running full throttle. When the pandemic shut down events, a lot shifted, including my personal and professional priorities.

One thing that has become clear in the past couple of years is that I don’t have the same fire to run a daily lifestyle blog, and I definitely do not have the hours to do so given my current professional priorities as a creative director, podcaster, and writer. Some colleagues have encouraged me to sell the site or hire someone to run it, but there is so much content here that is uniquely mine that I want to retain the rights to the living archive.

So, in an effort to be more focused and intentional about my time, I want to make the announcement official: this site will now function primarily as a living archive. I may occasionally post lifestyle content (such as this list of 70 page turners) as personal interest dictates but otherwise, I do not plan on a regular publishing cadence or regular updating, including:

  • Event roundups: please do not send pitches about local events, offers for ticket giveaways, limited time pop-up stores, movie screenings, etc.

  • Product reviews: please do not send me pitches about toys, baby supplies, etc.

  • Camp guide: in the past, I have really wanted to do this to support local camps and it is a huge amount of work with a very long runway (basically, December to August!), and I just can’t see myself walking joyfully into this work this year and next

  • Advertising requests: Since I am not actively updating this website, I can’t in good conscience take on advertising requests!

  • I have never responded to offers to back link, repost content, post about giveaways, or blanket PR pitches; please do not send me pitches for any of this

Thank you so much for all of the years of community and support. I am grateful for everything I have learned in building this site and community! xo Christine
