Thanks to these INSANE chocolate-coconut strawberry shortcakes Laurel made for Jon and my anniversary, I have had strawberries -- and strawberry confections! -- on the brain in a big way. And it's perfect timing, given that the strawberry festivals are kicking into gear this weekend. 1. June 11: The Strawberry Festival in Gloucester has live animals, beer tastings, music, a farmer's market, and much more (Gloucester)

2. June 11: The Strawberry Festival in Topsfield not only has delicious strawberry shortcake, it also offers games, house tours, live music, and arts and crafts (Topsfield)

3. June 18: Opening day at the Braintree Farmer’s Market with a Strawberry Fest, strawberry shortcake provided by C.N. Smith Farm, Inc. (East Bridgewater). Lots of other strawberry treats will be available, along with fresh-picked local strawberries (Braintree)

4. June 18:  Connors Farm offers strawberry picking and a Strawberry Festival in one spot. Head down for live music, barbecue, hayrides, strawberry shortcake, farm animals, duck races, pedal carts and more (Danvers)

5. June 18: Marini Farm has their Strawberry Festival, with lots of family fun and strawberry picking spread over the farm’s 12 acre property (Ipswich)

6. June 18: Drumlin Farm has a special Strawberry Day -- come pick your own strawberries and learn all about animals that enjoy these sweet summer fruits (Lincoln)

7. June 18: It’s Strawberry Festival time at Smolak Farms, with a rain date of June 26 (North Andover)

8. June 18: Westford hosts its annual Strawberry & Arts Festival, with great food, fun crafts and musical entertainment (Westford)
