4 Easy Ways to Amp Up Your Wardrobe with Leather Accents

Have you ever wanted to try wearing leather but found yourself intimidated by it? Yeah, me too! A motorcycle jacket isn’t really my style, and as much as I love the look of leather pants on other people, they just feel a little too sausage casing on me. However, during some recent online shopping I found myself immediately drawn to leather, but in accent form. Here are 4 easy ways to amp up your wardrobe with leather accents.

Note: I sourced all of the below picks from J. Crew Factory and Old Navy because: a) that's where I bought my key fall leather (or, uh, faux leather) pieces and they're all fantastic; and 2) hello, affordable experimentation!

1. I simply adore these faux-leather trim leggings. They’re comfy, super cute, and proved perfect for airplane travel last weekend. I was a little surprised to see the grumpy reviews on Old Navy (albeit, only a couple of data points) because I've already worn these a half dozen times since I bought them and they've held up great! Pair them with a tunic and ballet flats and you’re dressed in a matter of minutes.

2. How adorable is this leather trim houndstooth skirt? It's perfect for adding a little edge to your preppy.

3. Top your favorite pair of jeans with a leather accent tee, such as this faux-leather trim boatneck top, leather sleeve striped tee, or -- if you want to go for a little more leather coverage -- this leather front panel tee.

4. I bought this leather ponte dress and it ROCKS. Dresses are my favorite no-brainer dressing solution, and this one has perfect clean lines and is so comfortable. No joke, I sprinted through the airport and slept in this dress during my red eye flight back to Boston last weekend! However, if you want a little less leather coverage, try this adorable faux leather pocket shift dress or faux leather sleeved ponte dress.

So cute, right? Have fun experimenting!

Also, while I was in Atlanta last weekend, my sweet friend Lucrecer Braxton shot some portraits of me. I posted one headshot on my personal Facebook and people kind of went crazy about it so I wanted to share a couple more photos here since I already was planning on writing this leather accents post. Also, because this look took me 5 MINUTES to assemble. Yay for getting dressed in 5 minutes! (Dress, necklace, + two gold bracelets: J. Crew Factory. Leather/gold wrap bracelet: Stella & Dot.
