  • FIRST, we think everyone should have a chance to hear SteveSongs, and luckily the folks at the Billy Dalwin Preschool in Lexington and The Center for Arts in Natick think so too. Here's how to win a set of four tickets to either show:

For the Monday, January 21, 1pm show at Billy Dalwin Preschool, click over to the event flyer, then email contests@bostonmamas.com (with 'SteveSongs - Lexington' in the subject), and tell us what the suggested dress code is for the show! Entries must be received by midnight EST Thursday, January 17, 2008.

For the Saturday, February 2, 3pm show at The Center for Arts in Natick, click over to TCAN's calendar, then email contests@bostonmamas.com (with 'SteveSongs - Natick' in the subject), and name another upcoming show on the TCAN calendar. Entries must be received by midnight EST Thursday, January 24, 2008.

  • SECOND, did you dig the Downtime sleepy hat we featured this past fall and haven't got yours yet? Email contests@bostonmamas.com (with 'Downtime' in the subject) and tell us what color and size Downtime sleepy hat you'd love to own. FIVE LUCKY WINNERS will receive the hat of their choice! Worldwide entrants welcome. Entries must be received by midnight EST Thursday, January 24, 2008.

  • And THIRD, visit us today (entry closes at midnight tonight) - we're giving away a luxe linen or silk baby sling from Massachusetts-based Sakura Bloom (value $160-198)!

Good Things To Do In 2008

In this, the month of resolutions and intentions (click here to read those shared by Team Boston Mamas), we couldn't help but notice some common threads for change in our content over the last month. Here are five good things to do in 2008:

    sumbody.jpg

  • MAKE A LITTLE MAMA TIME. As the saying goes, secure your own oxygen mask first so you are able to help others. Consider self-care of the coconut or peppermint variety, or think about setting a fitness goal with a friend.

  • CHANGE THINGS UP AT HOME. Collect your outgrown books, music, and games and swap them for new titles. Or pick up some eco-friendly market totes and cut down on plastic bag usage.

    pump.jpg

  • BECOME AN EDUCATED CONSUMER. Do your homework, or enjoy the homework we've done for you! Our new guest contributor Carole Arsenault (a certified childbirth educator and lactation consultant) put together a marvelous primer to help demystify breast pump options. And a panel of our mama testers reviewed the Pampers line.

  • MAKE & ENJOY MORE HOME COOKED FOOD. Check out Sara's recipes for easy kid favorites and Michelle's recipe for hearty barley soup. If you need further inspiration, check out the recently released Food to Live By.

    fingerknitting.jpg

  • CONNECT WITH YOUR KIDS. There are lots of ways to connect with your kids. If they're little, consider hitting the decks with a cool puzzle. If they're more dexterous, try finger knitting, a fun, easy, and needle-free activity. For the older and more headstrong, check out these strategies for communicating about clothing battles, provided by our parent education guest contributor Amy Cody.
