Weekly Blueprint

boston-harbor-islands.jpgLast week of school (if you're not out already)! Summer solstice! (And for me, Vi's 15-month checkup -- how is she already 15 months old?) I can barely wrap my head around this week. I hope you had a wonderful weekend (we celebrated Jon's birthday, Father's Day, plus Laurel had a bajillion or so social engagements...) and are having a wonderful time transitioning into summer; here are some handy/fun ideas to consider in this week's Weekly Blueprint:

June 19: Free ferry day!

June 20: A solstice star party.

June 21: These kids are going to rock.

June 21: A river solstice celebration.

June 21: A pay it forward art party.

June 21: Keep Copley Square beautiful via this fundraising solstice stroll.

June 21: Baby-exclusive museum time.

June 22: Kick off this free summer music series with tropical Caribbean music.

June 22: This summer music series isn't free but it kicks off with Ziggy Marley (and wow, look at the lineup!).

And elsewhere around the web:

  • Please sign this petition to help make the beginning of the end of AIDS a reality. (It only takes a few seconds!)

  • Toddler propaganda. Asha and I address this issue in Minimalist Parenting.

  • I was honored to participate in this Boston Magazine roundtable on kids and social media. I specifically shared about teaching kids to use social media for good.

  • I want to try grilled pizza really, really soon (probably without the stone since I'm all about removing steps from the process!).

  • In case you missed it last week on Boston Mamas: teaching kids netiquette, how to make joint birthday parties simple yet special, and I'm going to Ethiopia.

  • It's OK if you haven't sorted out summer plans yet. Check out these ideas for simplifying summer, Boston area summer camps (many still have spaces!), and 8 summer activity ideas for kids.
