Easy Crafts, Beauty, & Gift Wrap
If you didn't have a chance to watch episode 5 of Life.Style live on Thursday, I highly recommend you check it out! It was a fantastic eco and budget friendly episode, in which Marie LeBaron of Make and Takes shared ideas for turning trash into craft treasure as well as nature inspired projects, and Allison Czarnecki of Petit Elefant offered awesome how-to's on home beauty remedies using five ingredients or less. I also shared some terrific video submissions showcasing clever ideas for inexpensive gift wrapping, as well as a few of my own inspiration points. Check out the segment to see additional images, video, and inspiration, but as promised, for easy reference below I link up leads shared by me and my guests. Enjoy!

Also, I ran out of time and didn't have a chance to mention this on the show, but Marie LeBaron pointed me to a great site called Living Locurto, where you can download all sorts of printables. In the vein of giving plain bags or recycled gift wraps a fresh look, check out Living Locurto's free printable gift tags.

What a great list. I LOVE that paper garland...I will have to try that out this year!

I'm sure your energy's limited at this happy time, and you are probably excited about the podcasts too. Still, I hope you will get back to writing blog posts soon, and not simply pointing your readers to videos you've made elsewhere.
Best wishes

Hi Jen,
Thanks for commenting in; I just wanted to share some thoughts regarding posting about the show here and content in general.
One thing I have learned in the 4+ years I have been writing Boston Mamas is that people enjoy engaging with me and experiencing content in different ways. One example is through responses to different posts -- e.g., some people prefer to comment on the post here on the site while others prefer to respond via Facebook or Twitter. I have also seen differing preferences for engagement when it comes to the content itself. Some folks purely love reading, others love video, and some love a mix of the two.
I consider myself a writer through and through (though on the user end I do enjoy accessing content through both the written word and video) and when the opportunity arose to do video, I admittedly was initially a little skeptical about whether it would work for me. But what I have found is that it has been a wonderful addition to my writing; specifically in that some topics are simply better suited to video and you can drill down into topics in different ways via video that would be unwieldy in a blog post. (If you want to see what I mean, excellent examples include the photography episode I did a few weeks back -- which involved some fascinating photo critiques -- and also the episode before Thanksgiving where I had a guest in studio demonstrating holiday tabletop ideas.) And people have responded with a lot of excitement about the information and resources I share in the shows.
Finally, regarding sharing the links here. I create a lot of content; not just directly on Boston Mamas but also in other freelance/guest writing realms in addition to, now, video. I cross post the links that I feel are relevant to what readers here are interested in because well, it just makes sense to do that since that content is top of mind for me anyway. For the video follow up posts I've started doing, I've found this particularly important because often times the links I share via the show whiz by quickly (and the URLs can be long and hard to remember) -- this way, I can share leads that my guests and I are referencing so it's easy for the viewer/reader to find what they want.
Anyway, this is a long winded response but I wanted to share my thoughts. Everything I do related to Boston Mamas involves immense thought and consideration; it's never a hasty or lazy decision on my part to cross post.
Thanks for reading, and perhaps you might enjoy some of the video content at some point as well!
best,
Christine
