Baja Face Painting

snazaroo-face-paint.jpgI'm not sure what it is with kids and face paint, but when I mentioned to Laurel that there would be a face painter at Down:2:Earth, she immediately was on board about coming with me. Face painting was, in fact, our first stop at the expo and I was impressed with Jill Reed of Baja Face Painting. Friendly yet gentle in approach towards my initially shy girl, Jill queried Laurel on favorite colors then went to work on creating a fantastic full-face monarch butterfly with sparkling accents (to complement the costume Laurel put on in anticipation of said face painting).

Reed worked from a professional sized version of the Snazaroo rainbow face painting kit we own; the line is non-toxic, water-based, and easy to wash off. But the difference, of course, is her speed (she's fast, perfect for squirmy kids) and skill. Her work was so effective that Laurel stirred countless smiles and sighs and comments as we toured the expo (and Shops at Prudential Center), and as we walked up Boylston Street, an entire Boston Duck Tours bus yelled, "Hey pretty butterfly!" to Laurel. Pretty awesome.

So consider booking Baja Face Painting for your next kiddie party. And if you're feeling totally silly and have a kid who's begging to emulate this line of work (as Laurel was after we got home), break out your own kit and let your kid do something like this (a matching butterfly):

I totally earned some extra mom points yesterday don't you think?

Thanks for your write up, I really appreciate it. Was wondering if you could post a pic of Laurel as well, I never took one and would love to have for my portfolio. Thanks again!

I can't thank you enough for the recommendation of Jill Reed and Baja Face Painting! They saved my birthday party with a bunch of rambunctious 5-8 year olds. Both the boys and the girls were over the moon with their designs. Jill and her daughter were lovely and everything moved along with ease and fun.

Letha, thanks for commenting in -- I'm thrilled to hear that Jill saved the day. She really has the perfect disposition for working with kids.

And happy birthday to your kiddo! -Christine

Thank you for your recommendation of Jill Reed and Baja Face Painting! I booked Jill for the Grand Opening of the Borders store in Dedham, MA and her face painting was the highlight of the weekend. Everyone commented that her designs were incredible and the most beautiful they had ever seen. Jill was great to work with and a fantastic asset to our successful Grand Opening weekend.

We had Jill from Baja Face Painting at my 4 year old's birthday party. She was amazing with the kids and did a lot more than just paint faces. She had a trunk full of fabulous glitter tatoos and crafts for the kids, it was a great event.

Baja Face Painting was a hit!! I have used Jill and her team for two big events. They do an excellent job and are very professional. The kids love it and it keeps them engaged, allowing the adults to have more fun too:). I don't plan on having another event without them!!!

We've been happy to have Jill at a couple of our events now. She is pleasure to be around. The kids really love her and she's super enthusiastic. The face paintings themselves are beautiful. Our customers rave about her work. The last event she came to she taught moms how to face paint their kids for Halloween. It was a great idea, she broke things down so simply for everyone.

We had Jill at our dghtr's 3rd birthday party based on recommendations here. Not only was Jill a pleasure to work with before the event, she arrived early, ready to paint and made sure every child was painted to their wishes, getting even the most facepainting shy child to be painted. She worked quickly but created very meticulous pieces. After the party, two moms asked for Jill's info for their parties. Would definitely recommend to any person planning a child-centered event.

Jill was fabulous. We had her do face painting at our daughter's 5th birthday. She was able to make every kid happy and her designs were beautiful. I would recommend her to anyone.

Jill was great. We booked her from my niece's 7th birthday party. In terms of the scheduling process, Jill is organized and responsive which is always appreciated! The children loved the results - Jill came with a board of different design options but also was able to do on-the-fly sports logos and camouflage for one of the boys. The parents were all raving too at her ability to do such neat, beautiful work in a patient manner - all in a quick amount of time. I would highly recommend Jill.
