February Vacation: Arts in Boston
After enjoying the regularity of year-round day care, having a school-aged kid requires a new level of planning, what with week (and summer) long vacations. This week I’ll share my favorite ideas for keeping the kids busy during February vacation, starting with time sensitive leads. To kick things off (and in the spirit of my Lion King post last week), I highly recommend supporting Boston’s amazing arts scene. And to make your planning easier, check out ArtsBoston's dedicated section for kid-friendly events, such as Disney on Ice (which we’re attending tomorrow) and HONK! (which Laurel’s class saw last week for a school field trip). Also be sure to cross check BosTix to see if you can get half price tickets for your show of choice.

We went to Honk! on opening night - it's GREAT! The kids (5 and 7) loved the music, the costumes, the characters, and the staging (some of the acting takes place in the aisles). Great songs and a very family-friendly production.

My son's 4th grade class attended Honk last week. He LOVED it. He got sooo much out of it. Was up at 6am following morning writing an essay that was required without me having to ask him to do his homework five times! A first.
