Repurposing Breast Cream
I love how resourceful moms are. This tip comes courtesy of my girlfriend Heidi:
“So everyone (or many of us) get gnarly feet in the winter months, and I am always in search of the miracle product that will soften my feet. I recently cleaned out my “mother drawer” and began using my Lansinoh lanolin breast cream on my feet, and voila - cracked heels and rough toes be gone! Four days of use and it’s like having a new pair of feet! A fun way to repurpose if you’re not planning on breastfeeding for a while.”

What an excellent suggestion. Those of us living in the frigid Northeast now know our elbows and toes can come out of hiding!

Awesome suggestion! I have about 4 tubes still lying around.
One thing I used it for is my 2 yr old daughter who sucks her thumb. In the winter, her thumb has become very chapped and painful. Normal lotions were definitely out, since she still sticks it in her mouth, so I remembered that lanolin is safe to eat (hence being OK as a breast cream). Works great!

Wow, I never would've thought of that! Thanks for the great tip! My poor feet are definitely in need of some help. :)

I never found anything as good at dealing with winter chapped cheeks on my babes than the leftover Lanisoh. I'd put it on them in their sleep and it didn't wipe off onto their pillows.

Works great as lip balm too. My daughter sucks her thumb and it gets all dried out and we put that on there to keep the skin from cracking. It is safe for her to still suck her thumb and doesn't taste weird.

If you can get over the slightly odd flavor, lanolin also works better and longer than any lip balm I've ever tried.

My aunt, an OBGYN nurse, told me to use the Breast Therapy balm for chapped cheeks. I've actually never tried it on nipples!! This was my first, and best use. It's in a tube like chap stick, but bigger. It's safe and thick enough to stay in place.

My kids call my breast cream "magic mam cream!" I use it on almost every owii! It is brilliant on sore crispy noses when they have a cold!

I bought a pair of waterproof, leather boots at LL Bean, and the salesperson advised that I condition the boots with lanolin...

Too funny! I was just writing a blog post about this, as we're researching bargain beauty tips. Our friend Julie recommends the lanolin as the best lip balm she's ever used, and constantly keeps a tube by her computer. Since she's not a mom (yet), this has caused some funny encounters over the years, but she still swears by it! I went out and bought some directly afterwards, though I still think nothing beats Bag Balm.

This is awesome and SOO well timed. My infant has just begun drooling and her chin breaks out from all the expoosure to drool (and solid food that gets in the mix, etc.) and I thought of my ol' pal Lanolin!! Yeah!! So now breast milk AND lanolin can be to the rescue for all little ouchies! Thanks so much!! I LOVE the feet idea and the lip balm to!!

We use it for diaper rashes. It's a bit harder to put on than diaper creams but works great.
Thanks for the tip. I'm about to go put some on my lips. They are really chapped and chapstick isn't doing anything.

I showed up for an LLL meeting once and the main door was locked, but another mom found an alternate door to get in. We needed to post a sign on the main door to let others know the way in. I opened up my diaper bag and rummaged around for anything like tape. I pulled out the lansinoh, squeezed out a couple of blobs, and applied it to the back of the paper. It stuck pretty well. :)

I use it on my lips all the time. It's a fantastic "night moisturizer."

I hear it works wonderfully as a diaper cream too.

Great tip! I have several of these bottles lying around, barely used. I have this Heel Balm that I bought in the store. One of its main ingredients is "urea". That's right, when I go to bed, my feet smell like pee. I hate it.
